Cold Forming
Our cold forming operations make it possible to produce both heads and collars. The flexibility and the accurate placement of these features make these favorite among designers. It is common to use these features as a stop on the wire in its application
Heading
-Wire diameters from .156 “up to .625” diameter wire
-Head thickness from 30% to 50% of material diameter. Thicknesses greater than 50% should be evaluated on a case by case basis
-Head diameter up to 200% of material diameter
Collaring
-Wire diameters from .156 “up to .625”
-Collar thickness from 30% to 100% of material diameter (30 -50% recommended)
-Collar Diameter up to 200% of material diameter
-Collar must be within 3.90”of the end of the wire
Extruding
-Wire diameters from .250” up to 625"
-30% maximum reduction per draw
-Each draw requires a lead in transition angle
-A minimum clamping area of 4.00” is required
-The maximum length of the extrusion is 3.25”
