Press Forming

Our press-forming capabilities include producing swages to create flats as well as pierced holes. Pierced holes created in this process are round but can also be other shapes if specified. Coins are also press formed and very common for designers utilizing to create a low profile stop for hardware in their products.

Free Flow Flat - Swage

-Material will flow freely from the side and end
-The ends and sides of swage can be trimmed to hold a tolerance of +/- .015
-It is required that transitions to the swage be a gradual radius to minimize fracturing

Coining (ear)

-Material is pinched on edge of diameter from a specific sized punch
-Coin diameters are recommended to be .250" or greater

Pierced Holes

-Material is pierced on a flat surface with a punch
-Most cost effective method for mounting points on wire forms
-The punch diameter must be at least 10% greater than the thickness of the free flow flattened area
-Shaped holes can also be achieved
