Its natural corrosion resistance means it doesn't rely on a coating to hold up against rain, humidity, or road salt picked up during mowing or trail use. Stainless is a common choice for visible components, parts near engines or exhaust systems, and any wire form where a coating failure down the road would be a real problem.
Galvanized Wire
Galvanized wire sits between the two. The zinc coating gives carbon steel wire a meaningful layer of corrosion protection, which makes it a popular middle ground for outdoor power frames, guards, and brackets that face weather but don't need stainless-level resistance. It's a good fit for manufacturers running high-volume production who want solid corrosion protection without moving all the way to stainless.

Material and gauge decisions are easiest to get right at the design stage, before tooling is built and production volumes ramp up. A part that's under-specified for its environment can mean field failures and warranty claims well after the first production run ships. A part that's over-specified can add unnecessary weight or complexity without solving a real problem. Neither outcome helps a manufacturer trying to hit a production season on schedule.
